The Illinois Forensic Science Commission, a public body tasked with monitoring practices at the state’s crime labs, sharply criticized the University of Illinois Chicago in a statement last week for inadequately investigating a now-shuttered toxicology lab whose work has contributed to nearly two dozen known wrongful convictions.

An investigation published by Injustice Watch last year found that between 2016 and 2024, the lab’s analysts tested people’s body fluid samples for cannabinoids in more than 2,200 cases using discredited scientific approaches and faulty machinery, and the lab’s lead toxicologist had testified about test results in misleading ways. The lab mostly tested samples for DUI investigations by law enforcement agencies in 17 Illinois counties.

More than a year after UIC shut down human testing at the lab, lawyers hired by the university issued a report in May 2025 downplaying the scale and implications of the crisis at the lab. The university’s report concluded that the lab’s methods were “at all times appropriate and met accepted scientific standards” and none of its analysts “knowingly provided false testimony in criminal proceedings.”

However, the commission said it found the university’s report “insufficient to address the allegations” about improper testing at the lab. 

“The content of the attorney-authored UIC Report suggests a fundamental lack of understanding of forensic toxicology principles, forensic laboratory quality systems, and the duties and responsibilities in an accredited forensic testing laboratory to its end users,” the commission’s report concluded. Members of the commission’s quality systems subcommittee, which includes scientists from the state’s publicly funded crime labs and a retired Cook County judge, met five times over the course of six months to pore over UIC’s report line by line. They found it contained “insufficient factual or scientific support” for two key conclusions: That the lab’s methods conformed with scientific standards prior to 2019 and that analysts appropriately processed urine samples to test for the presence of delta-9 THC.

Because UIC’s report was not authored by independent subject-matter experts, the commission “does not consider the UIC Report to be an authoritative document for criminal justice stakeholders to evaluate the competency or accuracy of forensic testing, reporting, and testifying performed by” the UIC lab.

UIC’s lab was the only one in the country that quantified THC in urine for Illinois law enforcement — something that isn’t scientifically possible because THC itself does not show up in urine, and the THC metabolites that do are useless for establishing whether someone was high while driving. In 2021, the lab also discovered it could not distinguish between delta-9 and another, legal form of THC, but did nothing to fix its testing methods. (2)

As we know, THC can be detected in the urine anywhere from 7 days to months, meaning there’s no way to determine whether someone was intoxicated at the time alleged. The lab finding THC in the urine determines cannabis use within the past month, but does not verify the user was intoxicated while driving. The findings often came with a false positive for THC, wrongfully convicting at least two dozen citizens to crimes they may not have committed. (3)

The commissioners called on the university to immediately conduct a “comprehensive audit” led by an independent organization staffed with scientific experts qualified to evaluate lab operations.

UIC declined to make anyone in a position of administrative authority over the laboratory available for an interview about the commission’s statement. In a written statement, UIC’s senior associate director of Buniversity communications, Brian Flood, told Injustice Watch the university “remains committed to upholding the highest standards of laboratory research integrity and compliance. The Illinois Forensic Science Commission’s statement and recommendations reflect its views and analysis. We are carefully reviewing its assessment.”

Fallout from the lab’s testing continues to play out in court

In January 2025, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin exonerated 18 people and dropped one person’s pending DUI charges that stemmed from testing done by the lab. “With the validity of the test results called into question, I could not, legally, ethically and in good conscience, continue the prosecution of these select cases,” Berlin said in a statement at the time. The number of people who may have been wrongfully convicted based on the UIC lab’s faulty work remains unknown. Neither the university nor prosecutors’ offices that relied on the lab’s evidence have notified potentially impacted individuals that questions have been raised about the validity of the lab’s testing results. Injustice Watch is aware of two active cases in which defendants in Lake and Will counties have been charged with the help of evidence provided by the lab.

The revelations about the lab have also brought renewed attention to the case of William Bishop, who is serving a 31-year prison sentence for murder and aggravated DUI. The DUI charges stemmed from the lab’s analysis of his blood after he caused a fatal car crash in rural McHenry County in 2020. Prosecutors argued for murder charges on the theory that Bishop was over the legal limit for THC and that his use of marijuana brought on the psychotic delusions that caused him to collide with another vehicle. Multiple psychiatrists disagreed at trial, presenting evidence of Bishop’s bipolar disorder in support of his insanity defense. Still, a judge found Bishop guilty.

“I am cautiously optimistic, but I’m afraid to get my hopes up too high,” Bishop’s mother, Susie Bishop, told Injustice Watch after reading the commission’s statement. Following Injustice Watch’s investigation, Bishop’s attorneys filed a post-conviction petition asking the court for a new look at his case. The prosecutors’ response pointed to the UIC lawyers’ report and argued there is no need to reopen the case — exactly the conclusion the commission is now cautioning prosecutors against. Given the commission’s rebuke of the UIC report, “I would hope the state would be willing to possibly renegotiate or reduce his charges,” Bishop said. (5)

Defense attorneys who have tried to bring attention to the lab’s malfeasance also welcomed the commission’s statement as a vindication. “It was nice that the commission called out UIC about what they were really trying to do: discourage litigation against them as opposed to providing an honest and independent evaluation,” said Donald Ramsell, who specializes in DUI defense and has been vocal about the problems with the UIC lab for years.

However, the commission’s recommendations carry no legal weight. The body was designed by statute to be merely advisory. Unlike similar commissions in other states, most notably Texas, the Illinois Forensic Science Commission has no authority to investigate labs, receive public complaints, or suspend analysts’ credentials.

Though the commission did not name anyone responsible for the problems at the UIC lab, its statement did indirectly reference Jennifer Bash, the lead toxicologist and quality manager at the lab, who was found by an accreditation agency to have given “inaccurate and unqualified testimony” about the meaning of lab results in at least one case.

The commission noted that other cases in which Bash may have testified in problematic ways remain unaccounted for because UIC reported it could not compile such information. An Injustice Watch public records request to UIC, however, revealed that Bash kept a log of cases in which she testified, which listed 41 cases between 2017 and 2024.

Bash, who now works as an independent scientific consultant, did not respond to a request for comment. The American Board of Forensic Toxicology confirmed its audit of her certification is ongoing. The lab’s former director, A. Karl Larsen, who is now an adjunct instructor in forensic science at Loyola University Chicago, declined to comment through his attorney.

This means that in at least 41 cases, wrongful evidence was used to wrongfully convict citizens for having cannabis in their system but charging them with a DUI. 

No one has yet to be held accountable.

We'd like to press this as we are very familiar with the cook county crooked justice system. They have used similar labs in custody battles, duis, Criminal cases, and more to punish cannabis users even if they have medical licenses. Cook County used to use the excuse that due to the federal non-legalization of marijuana they can still punish you even though it's legal in the state. After these findings, many facing charges or that have prior charges on their record are going back to court to argue that they were wrongfully incriminated. 

Lobbyists and cannabis activists are coming together to urge the county to fix what it has wronged and stop arresting people for cannabis related crimes when it's legal by the state and run through their medical facilities. 

With the obvious grab from big pharma, alcohol lobbyists, and even our own government in regards to total control over this plant and it's ability to heal, why are people still sitting in jail for it when we are collecting taxes on it that pay the very large salary of the very same judges that are trying the cases. 

If the crime is no longer a crime, your state specifically is collecting taxes on the sale of it, because your state sold it legally, why are we using it to convict people? And why are we convicting people when we have absolutely no evidence against them, whatsoever? 

There's a problem when we cause trauma within the lives of people and we take away their freedom and time but give them nothing in restitution. We've created villains for nothing. They can throw 50 lives in prison that are all innocent and when it's proven, these people cannot get that time and money back. The people who threw those lives away do not suffer any repercussions. 

A change needs to happen, and it's coming.

FDA ISSUED A WARNING LETTER TO THE MAKERS OF OZEMPIC/WEGOVY

As of March 2026, scientific research and regulatory bodies have identified a rare association between Novo Nordisk’s semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) and a specific type of vision loss, while investigations into thyroid cancer risk have largely shown no conclusive link in humans.  (1)

While Ozempic carries an FDA boxed warning regarding thyroid C-cell tumors, this is primarily based on animal studies (rodents). 

Recent studies and regulatory reviews have identified a "very rare" risk of Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION), often called an "eye stroke," which can cause sudden, permanent blindness in one eye. (2)

In March 2026, the FDA issued a warning letter to Novo Nordisk for failing to report some potential side effects and deaths in a timely manner, though this letter did not specifically target blindness or cancer claims as the primary cause. 

The lawsuits target the Novo Nordisk but also Indiana-based Eli Lilly, which makes Trulicity, Mounjaro and Zepbound. The drugmakers have broadly refuted the allegations and said they will vigorously defend the drugs’ safety. (3)

Among the fear of Thyroid Tumors, Cancer, and Blindness, other side effects reported include; gallbladder disease, gallstones, pancreatitis, depression, body odor, kidney damage, and obvious nutrient deficiency. According to the lawsuit by the FDA there is a guaranteed reported 1800 people who have lost their vision so far. However, that number only comes from the amount of cases that have been reported and verified directly from the FDA. 

This leaves us wondering is being skinny worth it? 

Furthermore, are we the guinea pigs for these off label uses for these random drugs? Do we not know this is the side effect because it hasn't been tested? No wonder we've stayed very supportive of third party labs and as many tests as you required to feel safe. 

FDA ISSUES PUBLIC WARNING LETTER TO OTC DRUG MANUFACTURER WITH PHOTOS

For the first time, the FDA posted photographic evidence in their public warning letter to India based import company Patcos Cosmetics Pvt. Ltd. 

This over-the-counter cosmetic and drug manufacturer was warned that during investigation their products were found to have been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions, whereby they may have become contaminated with filth or rendered injurious to health. This warning letter also summarizes significant violations of Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) regulations for finished pharmaceuticals.

During their inspection, their investigators observed specific violations including, but not limited to; 

1. Insanitary Manufacturing Conditions 
2. Failure to comply with CGMP
3. Failure to conduct at least one test to verify the identity of each component of a drug product
4. Failure to establish adequate written procedures for production and process control designed to assure that the drug products you manufacture have the identity, strength, quality, and purity they purport or are represented to possess
5. Failure to maintain buildings used in the manufacture, processing, packing, or holding of drug products in a good state of repair
6. Failure to establish an adequate quality unit and the responsibilities and procedures applicable to the quality control unit are not in writing and fully followed 

Knowing that these products are in stores all across America and that American companies are suffering having to follow stricter guidelines is quite upsetting. At what point does this outsourcing crocodile risk become a national security issue? If all of our drugs are being produced in other countries that can cut them off or poison them with other things, what does that leave us to protect ourselves with especially if it's evident that pharmaceutical companies that outsource have gotten away with this type of condition for way too long. We're worried about them cutting our supply which would cause a lot of death but is the supply itself not causing a lot of illness? 

The evidence displayed is worse conditions than you would expect to see in your local Trailer Park meth lab.

Now that we're breaking down BIG PHARMA, you can begin to understand the reason why we don't believe they have the best of intentions at heart and that naturopathy is the way that we believe in. 

American sanitary CBD companies were shut down for having a late lab and they had their banking removed. We didn't even get the warning letters. However if you have a government contract like this pharmaceutical company in India does, you don't get your bank removed, you don't get shut down, you don't lose your ability to earn an income even if you poison a bunch of Americans. You get a warning letter. 

American companies are prevented from providing sanitary and outstanding skin care and other types of products in places like Amazon and Walmart that hold those areas of market for specific places like Patcos. They hold the market for specific cosmetic companies who outsource directly to these manufacturers. 

If that doesn't infuriate you, we don't know what will. Welcome to American Medical. When you start to see the capitalistic fraud behind the pharmaceutical companies you understand that medical care in America isn't about health and capitalism is never fair if nobody has to follow the same laws. 

When we don't have to all follow the same laws, that's imperialism. Not capitalism. That's why we trust nature before we trust anything that is backed by Big Pharma. 

HEMP IN MEDICAL CAP

That's not to say that our industry is perfect by any means. Over the past two or three years a couple of us involved in investigating the Cannabis industry have watched cornbread climb to the top well also flagging or reporting any business competitions they come into contact with, like Simply. They are claiming to work with the Realm of Caring whom reached out to us in regards to being about science with their 5013c, but then shortly after began sending us emails trying to selling us CBD products. 

After being purchased by Alliant, they want to run a Medicaid pilot with this brand imperialistically at the top. This is not the first time we've seen medical facilities cut off CBD companies to place themselves at the top gutting the Natural Market. (5)

The best? The most knowledgeable? A little late to the game, don't you think? 

However, if the law does change in November they will still have to follow suit. This means Alliant just purchased a problem. 

This is not natural competition nor is it the way that medicine should work. We should not be purchasing our way into the top spot, we should be fundamentally and physically earning it by helping do the things we claim we can do.

As recently as this morning, we've seen HighTimes Magazine post about SAM Action. 

No matter how you look at it, it seems Americans are pro-mary-jane and it's becoming more acceptable as legalization spreads across the country. It's becoming harder to fool Americans and Canadians into believing fear tactics when they are educated and have personal experience that tell them otherwise. 

A new Pew Research Center survey of 25 countries found Americans are among the least likely in the world to say using marijuana is morally wrong, once again saying a lot in regards to the view of the herb in the U.S. having shifted as legalization spreads nationally. 

According to the independent Pew Research survey, 76% of US adults said marijuana use is morally acceptable or not a moral issue while 23% of U.S. adults said marijuana use is morally unacceptable. Among the 25 countries included in the poll, only Canada had a lower share of adults saying marijuana use is morally wrong, at 19%. The 25-country median was 52%, putting the U.S. far below the global midpoint on moral opposition to marijuana.

The results place the U.S. alongside a small group of countries where moral objections to marijuana use are relatively uncommon. By comparison, 24% in Australia and 25% in Germany said marijuana use is morally unacceptable, while the figure climbed to 50% in Italy, 56% in Mexico, 59% in Sweden, 80% in South Korea, 82% in Turkey, 83% in Nigeria and 93% in Indonesia. According to the survey, opposition or the view that marijuana use is unacceptable or immoral is most common among the uneducated and most popular among women. 

The survey was not just about marijuana usage but a detailed report of the opinions of 25 countries and their view on the morality of nine specific behaviors including but not limited to marijuana usage, gambling, extramarital affairs, the use of contraceptives, drinking alcohol and homosexuality to name a few. Turns out, even though Americans are definitely leaning towards a pro marijuana Nation, surprisingly, they are more likely to judge each other based on the other specific behaviors that were also studied by the research team. This finding tells us Americans don't find marijuana use to be a negative or problematic behavior anymore. This is a huge step for us as a country.

In an antitrust lawsuit, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost accuses nine multistate cannabis operators of engaging in anti-competitive conduct to reduce product choice and keep prices artificially high, harming both consumers and smaller, Ohio-based cannabis businesses.

The lawsuit stems from an October 2024 tip submitted to Yost’s office by an Ohio cannabis industry employee that alleged widespread “shelf-space allotments” among large, vertically integrated cannabis companies operating in Ohio and nationwide.  

The 51 page lawsuit states specific messages and correspondence alleged across multiple parties, violating several anti-trust laws across multiple state lines. (1)

According to the tip and later corroborated in the investigation, multistate cannabis operators entered into reciprocal purchasing agreements — negotiated at a national level — to prioritize one another’s products in Ohio dispensaries while reducing or eliminating purchases from independent Ohio cultivators and processors.

“Our investigation uncovered allegations of an industry-wide scheme designed to push small Ohio businesses out of the market,” Yost said. “Ohio’s antitrust laws protect competition and consumers, not backroom deals that rig the system for a select few.”

According to the tip, senior representatives from major multistate operators met in late 2022 and agreed to reduce purchases from independent businesses in order to preserve shelf space for one another during a period of increased supply and declining prices. The tip further alleged that some companies established explicit internal quotas, reserving a substantial percentage of dispensary shelf space for products sourced through reciprocal agreements with other multistate operators.

The defendants named in the lawsuit are:

• Cresco Labs
• Curaleaf
• Green Thumb Industries
• Jushi
• Trulieve
• Verano

The lawsuit alleges each defendant violated Ohio’s Valentine Act by:

• Entering into reciprocal trade agreements with competitors.
• Sharing competitively sensitive information.
• Engaging in discriminatory distribution practices that disadvantaged independent Ohio cannabis operators.

The "Valentine Act" isn't a single federal law, but usually refers to the Valentine Anti-Trust Act of 1898 in Ohio. It prohibits conspiracies or agreements that restrain trade, limit production, or fix prices to prevent competition. (2)

According to the complaint, these actions reduced product choice and quality for Ohio consumers, stifled innovation, and allowed the defendants to maintain or increase supra-competitive prices in the state’s cannabis market.

Attorney General Yost is seeking injunctive relief to halt the alleged unlawful conduct. (3)

The researchers issued a note of caution regarding the study’s potential limitations, emphasizing that data were self-reported. The study was funded by a grant from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research, an agency within the National Institutes of Health. (1) 

That's great news but also not as helpful as it could be for a study that was funded by so many places. We thought we could probably do a little bit better, although not given any funding, due to having staff that was actually in the Opioid Alternative Program and Medical Marijuana Program in their state. The same staff that's working one-on-one with disabled parties everyday, is in the cannabis industry, is disabled and a medical card holder. With just a little bit of science research and medical knowledge, you can start to see how marijuana and specifically CBD can be an all around benefit and why to the disabled population. 

Here's the Breakdown… 

Opiates, and furthermore the withdrawal from opiates, exasperate pain. It's a constant cycle of chasing the pain or preventing the pain from coming, which is a constant opioid cycle. On top of this you have to worry about getting sick, running out, and surrounding your life with these pills. The judgment from the very same facilities that prescribed them to you is also not spoken about enough. You get spoken to like you've done something wrong like, you're a criminal drug addict. They test you for other drugs, they question you if a specific drug isn't working for you even though we all know everybody is different. It's invasive, frequent and degrading. This is coming from personal experiences. I say experiences because I hear them happening every day, just like what happened to me. Patients go along with it to stay a zombie, to stay numb, because once your nerves wake up from being put to sleep by opiates they're going to scream out and the pain is worse than it started. That's the cycle. 

Marijuana is different, you still know the pain is there, but you can handle it. With proper strain, extraction, and medical use, including microdosing, it rewires the way your brain handles pain by handling the problem at the control center. 

Pain, anxiety, and stress cause aggression as they all register on the same level and same receptors. What levels and receptors for what? Releasing cortisol.

Cortisol gets released and it affects your entire body. If you have it constantly being released it uses tons of health complications. Most patients with PTSD have a problem with high cortisol levels due to the frequent fight or flight responses. 

High cortisol can damage a number of parts of your body. If it's constantly high it can lead to Cushing's disease, which affects everything. I mean it. Cortisol in constant doses literally destroys your body; your skin, your hair, your organs, your heart, it'll affect your mood, and then some. Not to mention the brain fog. It is not fun. Cushing's is very similar to what they describe fibromyalgia to be like, except for it can be diagnosed easier and there's a direct link to the cause. (2)

Why do you care?

Stress and improper signals, like having PTSD or any kind of complex brain disorder, are symptomatically experienced due to the instant dose of cortisol and how often your body releases it. Sometimes it just feels like a heart flutter, sometimes it can feel like a full-blown heart attack. If it happens enough, your body gets sick. 

Marijuana, specifically hemp actually, lowers cortisone levels significantly, which is why it is necessary to know the difference between THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids. Not everybody is trying to get high, some people are trying to get healthy.

Using THC can suppress the morning surge of cortisol, known as Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR), which is why you may feel drowsy after waking up as a disabled person. 

The fact of the matter is the THC actually raises cortisol levels, especially for novice users. The initial high of marijuana is surrounded by cortisol release, it's part of the psychoactive experience of THC. However after repeated microdosing and medical use you get a blunted stage, this prevents the user from experiencing a significant psychoactive change or cortisol release because they become tolerant to the plant. This is the proper medical dose stage and how you should feel with your medical marijuana. 

CBD however, this is non psychoactive. CBD is also known to significantly lower cortisol levels in patients when used appropriately. You don't have to get to a medical state of use for it to work with your endocannabinoid system because it is non psychoactive and it works immediately at lowering cortisol levels. (3)

People with disabilities experience significant anxiety, aggression, fear, and fight or flight due to PTSD or trauma or whatever it is they go through, and all of these conditions are exacerbated and spread throughout the body with cortisol. Stress especially raises your cortisol levels, and being disabled is stressful and often comes with chronic pain, both cause significant raises in cortisol levels.

Introducing CBD or hemp into the diet not only can regulate your endocannabinoid system but also your cortisol levels!

This is the reason CBD is used in patients with PTSD, CAR, seizures, anxiety, pain, depression, and other conditions in which the mood needs stabilizing or the body needs to sync with the proper release of the chemicals from the brain by having everything in balance. It prevents your brain from overdosing you with cortisol.

“That is why it saved my life and changed everything even though I'd been using Marijuana to self soothe for years. That is why I got into the industry and that is why I don't think people are listening when I'm talking about the medical side of things, because it's not all about getting high sometimes. The medical community are the disabled communities that open the door to legalization,” says Kimber McIntyre, CEO of Natural Healthy CBD and Service Dog Headquarters. 

In closing; pain, anxiety and stress are caused by an overabundance of cortisol. Medical marijuana, specifically CBD, lowers cortisol levels and regulates the gland that's overproducing and releasing it. So, it's not that you don't have pain anymore. It's that it doesn't hurt that bad and you're not that concerned about it because your body is no longer releasing those signals to your brain that you're in extreme pain and you're panicking about it.

It's not going to numb the problem necessarily, it'll silence the alarm though, which in a functional society is what you need to be able to function with a disability... Not be dope sick. 

This is actually why they use the plant and ONE of the obvious reasons that CBD and THC are used by the disabled class and the science behind it.

For example CHS is real... rare. It's not on the rise, people aren't often hospitalized for it but it's all over Facebook like the images below.

Where are these Articles coming from and how are they getting these statistics? Why has this only been spoken about since the mention of the rescheduling of cannabis? Did this just suddenly influx? Where? Have they tested said cannabis for contaminants? We must now blame ALL marijuana?!

Why is this happening? Who is doing this? 

There's so many reasons behind it and people involved it's hard to tell where to pinpoint without the exact article. However, we know one major player. 

While the culprits are not all in one party, we need the cannabis industry to stop looking at CBD as an enemy or competition. The fighting within the industry is due to greed and selfish players but not everyone behaves this way. Some of us really are in it for self care, truth, health and trusted knowledge. CBD is not your problem, it's a key to the door of legality. The more we fight with one another, the less people there are to defend us from the real problem. We'd like you to take a break from the internal fighting in the Cannabis industry to introduce you to one of cannabis reform’s sworn enemies. 

They are claiming credit for the quests to end adult-use marijuana sales in Maine and Massachusetts, where in the latter state signature-gatherers are allegedly resorting to deceptive tactics.

Smart Approaches to Marijuana, a Washington, D.C., area-based anti-legalization organization, is contributing “multi-million-dollar support” to voter initiative campaigns that, if successful, would end a combined $1.8 billion in annual taxed cannabis sales, its founder and president claimed last week.

Republican Party-affiliated political operatives with the Coalition for a Healthy Massachusetts have declined to say who’s paying for the pricey signature-gathering campaign – and with campaign finance filings still not due, that information is not publicly available.

Wendy Wakeman, a spokeswoman for the campaign, again declined to identify supporters during a brief telephone interview on Tuesday.

But on Thursday, a few hours after President Donald Trump signed an executive order that, when fulfilled, will downgrade cannabis’ status under federal law, SAM co-founder and President Kevin Sabet claimed to be behind the campaigns.

“Now, today, for the first time, I can also announce our multi-million-dollar support for two grassroots campaigns to end marijuana sales and commercialization in Maine and Massachusetts,” Sabet said in a video posted to X. “We still have the power to take back our public health.”

SAM did not respond to an email seeking comment.

With campaign finance forms not yet filed, it’s still not known exactly how much cash SAM is devoting to the causes. SAM’s backers have long been a contentious subject of speculation in the cannabis advocacy world.

SAM Action, a 501(c)4 affiliate of the organization, recently claimed to have spent in excess of $100,000 on television ads urging Trump not to reschedule cannabis. (2)

We see the scramble in the industry and the ads keep popping up, the laws keep changing, legality is teetering and everyone is up in arms. Certain states are just fighting with each other. These are times when we need to be strong, we need to be together, and we need to know our enemies. 

If you're getting an influx of these ads, or they started after reading our article, you can report ads that don't fit your needs to places like Facebook. You can also report it as fake news. You can join in on community notes. You can even contest in the comments! You can mention how they don't concern themselves with alcohol, or how alcohol and Big Pharma involvement. 

Catch them when they lie about hospitalizations due to Marijuana by simply posting our article about how opiate death has decreased 30% since Marijuana has become accessible. (3)

Truth is it's not alcohol or pharma this time. SAM Action's main goal is to prevent the marijuana industry from becoming the next big tobacco. Whatever that means, we assume it's paid for by big tobacco. It's a shame that with all the money they are spending on lies, they can't pay a web developer to complete their mission page. At least their donation button works, because of course it does. (4)

Since the announcement of the hemp laws changing, the heart of the CBD industry is rallying together to not only better their services and fight for fair access, but to assist in research, investigations and audits of those on the market that are giving the industry a bad name. Natural Healthy is very active in the online community and has been blessed to become a part of something bigger.

In comes CBD Social, a group of active CBD business leaders, investigators, reviewers and more led by Aaron Daughdrill and Biochemist, JR Staley. Both have been a huge part of our community, often leading investigations into shady companies, attempting to contact companies to assist in doing it the right way, and reviewing brands without bias that they can or cannot recommend to the group. Aaron has done reviews of products from Cookies, to 3CHI, to numerous brands we have been exposed to. They have been a blessing when new brands sign up, as the first line of defense by asking if they’ve become experienced with them, and verifying labs and COAS. 

This is how we find ourselves at the Candy Shop Investigation. 

The Candy Shop is located at 2317 Pass Rd, Gulfport, MS 39501. The number of complaints is too high to ignore and has become a topic of discussion as one of the companies causing damage to the industry, and here’s why.

Copyright Infringement - Our sample was obtained at the aforementioned location and resembles a near exact replica of a bag of Skittles. Mars/Wrigley has to follow extensive laws when mass distributing and wouldn’t approve of the use of their products on one such as this which leads you open to legal repercussions and puts our industry in a bad light to bigger, more solidified industries that have a bigger pull. They are less likely to fight for us. Not to mention you’re confusing the customer into thinking they’re buying a Skittles product, which is not the case. 

Aaron did note that while the store is labelled as simply “Candy Shop” everything was “medicated” and they even had Kratom behind the counter.  

Who’s Responsible? - The biggest risk in our industry is to protect the customer. This means being able to track any product or batch that may bring a complaint. Each of our brands must be fully reputable and match some pretty basic criteria for our industry. Any brand we work with must have a Lab/COA per product and a private website with brand information is required. The manufacturing company must clearly state their address on their packaging and in some states, they are even required to have a QR Code that allows customers to access the labs or that product. It’s pretty extensive but it keeps our customers safe and believe it or not, is the bare minimum for a hemp/CBD company.

The Candy Shop didn’t have ANY proper documentation or chain of command in any way. You cannot even tell if it’s allegedly Delta 8 or Delta 9 which is important. Not only did the infringe on the copyright but the packaging had no website, no labs, no QR code, no COA, no distributer name on package, and no address. So if someone gets sick, there’s no one to call. This is a HUGE RED FLAG in our industry.

Basic Math - The math ain’t mathing here. Their label states 400mg of Delta, 20mg per serving. However there are about 25 pieces in the package, which would equate to 500mg, not 400mg. So how many milligrams are actually in it and milligrams of what? You can’t trust a label if the math is completely off. On the back of the label it says Delta THC Hemp at 

250mg which is just a random number thrown in there… and this is being sold at retail stores.

Targeting Children - We’ve been here before. Those in the vape industry recognize the behavior of pandering to kids. However hemp and CBD are medical and the people who use it need it, probably aren’t looking for it in this capacity. This is simply a way to get CBD and inevitably kratom, in the hands of our children. The industry as a whole cares a lot about children and their safety, and we wouldn’t stand for pandering to them when we know our industry already has its place without putting children at risk.  

It’s junk, there’s  no way of knowing where it’s coming from, who it’s coming from, what it is and how much of that is in it. It should be illegal and will soon be illegal. These are the types of businesses causing good hemp companies to panic because they refuse to follow the current laws in place, therefore making it harder for the rest of us dealing with bans and strict laws. Stores like this are an embarrassment to the hemp industry as a whole and together we urge Mississippi law to look into this further because there’s a lot of upset families. 

It goes without saying we CANNOT recommend the Candy Shop of Mississippi because it's putting our industry and our children in danger.  

This is not the first time the Candy Shop has been brought to questioning. According to the DEA, A former Biloxi City Councilman was sentenced to 72 months in prison for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled substance in August of 2024. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Jonathan Buckner and Lee Smith. So who's running the company?

Ahren Belisle 

Ahren Belisle is a Canadian-American stand-up comedian known for his unique performance style. Ahren is a nonverbal (mute) comedian who has cerebral palsy and delivers his jokes using a text-to-speech app on his phone. 

Much like Drew, Ahren was a Top 10 Finalist in the eighteenth season of America's Got Talent (AGT). He is also a regular fixture and "Golden Ticket" winner on the popular podcast, Kill Tony.

He uses his comedy and social media following to spread messages of positivity and inclusion.

His career in comedy quickly rose, and his distinct method of delivery, which includes the comedic tension created by the typing delay, has earned him a large following.

Fiona Cauley

Fiona Cauley is a stand-up comedian known for her quick wit and dark sense of humor. She is a comedian based out of Nashville, Tennessee, and is a regular at Zanies Comedy Club. She frequently appears as a special guest on the popular podcast Kill Tony and performs at the Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas.

Fiona uses her life experiences, particularly those related to her disability, as material in her comedy. She lives with Friedreich's ataxia (FA), a rare, degenerative neurological disease that affects the nervous system and causes a progressive loss of muscle control. She was diagnosed at the age of 18. She has used a cane, a walker, and is currently a wheelchair user, which inspires much of her comedy and speaking engagements.

Fiona uses her platform to share her story, raise awareness about FA, normalize conversations about disabilities, and speak about mental health and overcoming adversity.

She has toured with comedian Nikki Glaser and spoke at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. She's also been in shows with the aforementioned Ahren Belisle.

Kaelynn Partlow 

We first found Kaelynn Partlow well doing research for our top responses to the White House reporting that Tylenol causes autism article. Kaelynn Partlow, is an autistic therapist, author, and advocate best known for her appearance on the Netflix series Love on the Spectrum. She is a Registered Behavior Technician and Lead Technician at Project Hope Foundation, focusing on autism advocacy and education.

She wrote the book Life on the Bridge: Linking My World to Yours as an Autistic Therapist, which shares her personal and professional insights to help bridge the understanding between autistic and non-autistic people.

She works professionally as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and Lead Technician at Project Hope Foundation, providing services to autistic clients and helping develop staff training content.

In a Washington Post piece on Wednesday, Harvard University economics student Julien Berman used data from the University of Michigan that identifies dispensary locations at the county level to compare opioid overdose trends over 10 years in jurisdictions where cannabis became legally available compared to those without regulated access.

“The theory is straightforward: making cannabis more available—and reducing its cost—could induce people to shift from opioids, which are super dangerous, to marijuana, a significantly safer alternative,” Berman said. “Existing opioid users seeking pain relief can choose marijuana instead of heroin, especially in counties where recreational use is legal and access is easy. And new potential users might never turn to opioids at all if they could get marijuana instead.”

Other factors were taken into account to support the conclusion, including comparisons of opioid mortality rates in counties within a legal state where some allow retailers to operate and others have chosen to opt out.

“That kind of variation helps rule out other state-level changes such as expanded access to naloxone—a drug that can reverse the effects of an overdose—as the main cause of the drop in deaths,” Berman said. (1)

On average, the opioid death rates following the establishment of cannabis dispensaries declined more sharply in the immediate years after the opening compared to dry counties. But from years five to 10, there's a more precipitous effect, with an average rate of 27 percent fewer opioid deaths in jurisdictions that have cannabis storefronts after a decade.

There are some limitations to the analysis, including challenges with the “enormous number of messy business records” maintained in the University of Michigan dataset that could have misidentified certain businesses. And it's possible counties that were assessed could have separately implemented other programs to address opioid use during the timeline that was studied, Berman noted.

“Still, the fact that the drop in deaths shows up right after the first dispensary opens—and not before—strongly suggests that opioid users do shift to marijuana, at least enough to stop overdosing,” he wrote.

He added that while studies have shown that marijuana isn't entirely harmless, it's “much safer than heroin.”

“Heck, it's arguably safer than alcohol. If the dispensary down the street can get people off opioids, public health wins—even if overall marijuana use goes up,” he said.

Relatedly, a recently published study found that, among drug users who experience chronic pain, daily cannabis use was linked to a higher likelihood of quitting the use of opioids—especially among men. (2)

Researchers for a separate federally funded survey recently found an association between state-level marijuana legalization and reduced prescriptions for opioid pain medications among commercially insured adults—indicating a possible substitution effect where patients are choosing to use cannabis instead of prescription drugs to treat pain.

A study published late last year found that legalizing medical cannabis appeared to significantly reduce monetary payments from opioid manufacturers to doctors who specialize in pain, with authors finding “evidence that this decrease is due to medical marijuana becoming available as a substitute” for prescription painkillers.

Other recent research also showed a decline in fatal opioid overdoses in jurisdictions where marijuana was legalized for adults. That study found a “consistent negative relationship” between legalization and fatal overdoses, with more significant effects in states that legalized cannabis earlier in the opioid crisis. (3)

Authors estimated that recreational marijuana legalization “is associated with a decrease of approximately 3.5 deaths per 100,000 individuals.”

Another recently published report into prescription opioid use in Utah following the state's legalization of medical marijuana found that the availability of legal cannabis both reduced opioid use by patients with chronic pain and helped drive down prescription overdose deaths statewide. Overall, results of the study indicated that “cannabis has a substantial role to play in pain management and the reduction of opioid use,” it said. (4)

Yet another study, published in 2023, linked medical marijuana use to lower pain levels and reduced dependence on opioids and other prescription medications. (5) And another, published by the American Medical Association (AMA) last February, found that chronic pain patients who received medical marijuana for longer than a month saw significant reductions in prescribed opioids.(6)

About one in three chronic pain patients reported using cannabis as a treatment option, according to a 2023 AMA-published report. (7) 

Most of that group said they used cannabis as a substitute for other pain medications, including opioids.

Other research published that year found that letting people buy CBD legally significantly reduced opioid prescription rates, leading to 6.6 percent to 8.1 percent fewer opioid prescriptions. (8)

A 2022 research paper that analyzed Medicaid data on prescription drugs, meanwhile, found that legalizing marijuana for adult use was associated with “significant reductions” in the use of prescription drugs for the treatment of multiple conditions. (9)

A 2023 report linked state-level medical marijuana legalization to reduced opioid payouts to doctors—another datapoint suggesting that patients use cannabis as an alternative to prescription drugs when given legal access. (10)

Researchers in another study, published last year, looked at opioid prescription and mortality rates in Oregon, finding that nearby access to retail marijuana moderately reduced opioid prescriptions, though they observed no corresponding drop in opioid-related deaths.(12)

Other recent research also indicates that cannabis may be an effective substitute for opioids in terms of pain management.

A report published recently in the journal BMJ Open, for instance, compared medical marijuana and opioids for chronic non-cancer pain and found that cannabis “may be similarly effective and result in fewer discontinuations than opioids,” potentially offering comparable relief with a lower likelihood of adverse effects. Separate research published found that more than half (57 percent) of patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain said cannabis was more effective than other analgesic medications, while 40 percent reported reducing their use of other painkillers since they began using marijuana.(14)

The observational study, published this month in the Journal of Affective Disorders, looked at 33 adults in Maryland with “clinically significant” anxiety and/or depression over a six-month period, evaluating them at baseline, and then again after one, three, and six months from when patients began using medical cannabis.

“Significant decreases from baseline in anxiety and depression were observed, with mean scores dropping below clinically significant levels within three months of initiation,” the study says. Participants also reported sustained reductions in anxiety and/or depression symptoms over the six-month study period.

Most patients chose THC-dominant cannabis products. In addition to self-reported benefits to mental health, they also reported a decline in their perceived driving ability and an increase in feeling high.

“Acute effects were dose-dependent,” authors wrote: “10–15 mg of oral THC and at least 3 puffs of vaporized cannabis yielded the most robust reductions in anxiety and depression.”

Among participants, three-quarters said they had previously used marijuana. Just over a third (37 percent) said they'd used cannabis within the past year.

At the time of the study, medical marijuana was legal in Maryland, but the substance remained illegal for nonmedical use.

The six-person team behind the new study represents the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, the university's Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Centre for Alcohol Policy Research in Melbourne, Australia.

A conflict of interest section of the report notes that some members have received funding or currently work for companies involved in medical marijuana.

In addition to NIDA funding, the project also received support for a pilot grant from the Lambert Center for the Study of Medicinal Cannabis and Hemp at Thomas Jefferson University.

Authors said that while the findings of the new study (2) were promising, “controlled clinical trials are needed to further investigate the efficacy and safety of medicinal cannabis for acute anxiety and depression symptom management.”

While psychedelics have in recent years shown increasing promise to treat mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD, some cannabis users have long reported that the substance helps manage anxiety and depression. A number of other recent studies also support the idea.

One recent study, for example, found that legalizing marijuana at the state level led to fewer filled prescriptions for anti-anxiety medications, including benzodiazepines, antipsychotics, and antidepressants. (3)

Other research late last year found “accumulating” evidence that the marijuana component CBD “has antidepressant properties in humans and animals with few side effects” and may also aid in the reduction of inflammation and formation of new brain cells. 

“In summary,” that study said, “there is growing evidence that CBD may be a promising candidate for the treatment of depression.” (3)

Separate, industry-backed research into the potential anti-anxiety effects of CBD last year found that an oral CBD solution effectively treated mild to moderate anxiety, as well as associated depression and poor sleep quality, with no serious adverse events observed. (4)

As for cannabis more broadly, another study last year into medical marijuana for chronic pain and mental health found that participants overwhelmingly reported that cannabis reduced the severity of their depression, anxiety, and sleep issues to at least some degree. (5)

Yes. Donald J. Trump recently posted about the benefits of CBD. He mentioned how we have an endocannabinoid system and suggested CBD is like a conductor, making sure all the other bodily systems work to their full potential. 

Trump released the video educating on the endocannabinoid system and how it affects our seniors. He suggested that over time our bodies break down which is true and our endocannabinoid system breaks down, breaking down other cellular systems around it. He suggested that geriatric patients are recommended a better diet, light exercise, and stress management but it's not enough. 

“Here's the game changer- your system can be restored faster using hemp derived CBD. When the system is restored, pain subsides, sleep is improved and stress is reduced. When the system is restored, disease progression can slow down and years are added to your life…as well as years spent in good health.” The video stated. 

The video stated that 20% off seniors are using CBD for things like pain, arthritis, cancer, and many other signs of aging. 

He goes on to state that doctors are not equipped to provide education or knowledge on hemp derived CBD and there is not enough regulating the hemp Drive CBD on the market. Something both this company and Mary Miller's law have argued for a while. 

He reminds us of the 2018 farm bill (read here) that he signed into office being the first step. Now he wants to educate doctors on the basic common sense things that we've been trying to teach you the whole time. 

Trump suggests giving Medicare coverage to CBD for seniors at the very least. While Trump is pushing this as a movement to transform Aging Care, we wonder if it has anything to do with the CBD company JD Vance is involved with?

With the amount of hits that we've had from the political climate you can't fault us for wondering, what is the catch? 

However, yes it is true that Donald J Trump did release a video in regards to hemp derived CBD on Truth social and urged for its legality in senior Healthcare.

While the narrative seems to change often between psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler and child psychologist Leo Kanner, we can find medical research studies documenting autism as far back as 1911, another notable publishing in 1943. Although autism was not formally recognized until the twentieth century, examples of probable autism are found earlier. For example, Martin Luther (1483–1546), through his note taker Mathesius, has a story about a 12-year-old boy with features of severe autism. Perhaps the first well-documented case of autism was that of Hugh Blair of Borgue, Scotland, in a 1747 court case that involved the brother of this person seeking to gain Hugh Blair’s inheritance. A medical student (Jean Itard) treated a wild child with autistic features who was called by history the Wild Boy of Aveyron and was a feral child caught in 1798.(1)

What is the point? 

Well with the FDA being told to publish science that wasn't actually tested, we've been noticing a lot of news sites changing their factoids which means they can't really be relied on in the first place. To get to the point, we must first discuss the history of Tylenol. 

Tylenol, trademarked brand of acetaminophen (paracetamol), a pain reliever and fever reducer introduced in 1955 by McNeil Laboratories, Inc. Tylenol later was owned by the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical conglomerate, and in 2023 it came under the control of the consumer health business Kenvue, a Johnson & Johnson spin-off.

Acetaminophen was initially synthesized in 1878 by American chemist Harmon Northrop Morse. Acetaminophen gained interest as a potential analgesic (pain-relieving drug), though uncertainties about its safety stalled its development. About the same time, the analgesic drug aspirin emerged and quickly dominated the market, contributing to a loss of interest in acetaminophen and the drug being largely forgotten.

In 1949 McNeil Laboratories, a family-run firm, pursued the use of acetaminophen as a safer alternative to its precursor drugs. By 1955 the company had introduced Tylenol, a trademarked name for acetaminophen, as TYLENOL Elixir for Children. In 1959 Johnson & Johnson acquired McNeil, and soon after the drug was made available over the counter as an alternative to aspirin.

Over time Tylenol became a leader in the analgesic market. Before the 1982 “Tylenol scare,” the brand held about 37 percent of the U.S. over-the-counter analgesic market. That dominance was shaken when seven people in the Chicago area died after taking Extra Strength Tylenol capsules that had been tampered with and laced with cyanide. Johnson & Johnson ordered an unprecedented recall of some 31 million bottles, costing the company an estimated $100 million. The scare briefly drove Tylenol’s market share down to single digits, but swift action and the introduction of tamper-resistant packaging helped the brand regain public trust. Until recently, it was known as one of the safest pain relieving drugs on the market. 

Now you have a timeline.

If you follow both pages of this time line at the very end you'll see a note with a golden star. This is the place in the timeline when Tylenol is readily available and has been manufactured for the public to consume. Prior to this point in the timeline, Tylenol wasn't a thing. It did not exist. Which leads us to believe that due to the documentation of autism centuries prior to the development and manufacturing of Tylenol, scientifically, statistically, and mathematically speaking there would not be a way that Tylenol could possibly cause autism.

It would be akin to the government stating that shark attacks and ice cream sales both go up in the summer. Therefore shark attacks are caused by eating ice cream. While two facts are true at the same time coincidence, is not causation. 

Many people are aware of this and they feel that this new FDA correction by the president and FACT CHECK by the White House is either an attack on women, an attack on autism and those who have it, or simply an attack on the truth. 

And the truth is that you're not alone. Many places have denied the new findings and refuse to play into studies that have not been scientifically concluded.

Below are a few (not all) of the medical, scientific, or charitable organizations and experts that are standing up and speaking out on behalf of the autism community, pushing back. 

American Psychiatric Association 

The APA put out a statement on its Facebook that you can read in its entirety below. They were quoted in saying. 

“A strong base of evidence shows that acetaminophen, when taken as directed, is safe for use during pregnancy. Any decisions around a course of treatment should be determined by a patient and their doctor (…) Autism spectrum disorders exist on a spectrum of neurodiversity. The country must focus its resources on expanding access to care and to building the evidence base for future treatments.” (3)

Nature released an article called Trump links autism and Tylenol: is there any truth to it? (4)

In it they were quoted as saying, “A review of studies published last month in the journal Environmental Health concluded that there is an association. But researchers interviewed by Nature point instead to the contrasting results of a review of high-quality studies on the topic. That review, published in February, concluded that “in utero exposure to acetaminophen is unlikely to confer a clinically important increased risk” of autism spectrum disorder.

American Academy of Pediatrics

“Today’s White House event on autism was filled with dangerous claims and misleading information that sends a confusing message to parents and expecting parents and does a disservice to autistic individuals, ”  says AAP in a statement on the White House autism announcement. (5)

They later posted a quote from AAP President Dr. Susan J. Kressley to Facebook. 

“There is no single root cause of autism and there is no single medication that will give every autistic child or adult what they need.”

Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) 

We were introduced to ASAN when we were just TheExtraSpoon.com when our group of clients and customers and those within our disability networks suggested and then highly voted for them to be our charity of choice for a charity drive and we collectively sent them a great donation! They were graciously accepting and the reason why they were chosen by the community is because they actually put the money towards helping house, home, educate, medically assist, help with basic needs and tasks and they are very loud in lobbying for the rights of those on the spectrum. While certain other seemingly similar organizations tend to skew the education or form questionable opinions and topics, parents of autistic children were more supportive and louder for ASAN than any other organization - and that's because ASAN was louder and more supportive for them. That's why we silently supported each other's missions from that day forward, for all transparency. 

That said, their opinion is very important to us when it comes to problems relating to the Spectrum on a global scale as they are made solely of the group that they collectively help, much like the spoon was built. While most organizations and companies have a stake in what happens due to their fiscal responsibilities, organizations like Natural Healthy and ASAN have a stake in it because they are whom it affects. They have the bigger voice and the louder party because it doesn't just affect the constituents, it affects the actual people lobbying for the actual problem. There is no ulterior motive. The goal is the goal, and it affects all of us. 

It was no surprise that ASAN released the article, ASAN Condemns Administration’s Rampant Misinformation about Autism, Acetaminophen, and Vaccines; Calls for Respectful, Fact-Based Approach. 

They even went as far as to suggest, if not DEMAND, RFK Juniors immediate resignation on Facebook declaring, “ASAN joins members of the Public Health Community in celebrating the courage and integrity of the CDC leadership who choose to take a stand against this administration's irrational and dangerous efforts to undermine our community’s health. We also stand with the American Public Health Association and multiple Senators demanding RFK Jr’s immediate resignation.” 

TYLENOL

Tylenol itself must be in a whirlwind right now. As it stands, it took less than 24 hours for ambulance chaser behavior to get lawyers to look for class actions to sue the company based on the findings of RFK. We've seen KP Legal and Free Legal Reviews even stating that they're looking for mothers of children who were born with Autism that took Tylenol while they were pregnant. What this does is take the science and fact out of everything and now everybody is just grabbing for money, except for Tylenol for some reason. 

Tylenol came out on Twitter/X stating, “We actually don't recommend that you use any of our products while pregnant. Thank you for your concerns.” (7)

Tylenol doesn't seem concerned. 

Maybe it's the fact that on the label they print on every bottle it says, “Do not use while pregnant or breastfeeding unless otherwise instructed by a healthcare professional.” This simple statement passes off all responsibility to the doctor or healthcare professional that suggested you use the Tylenol in the first place. That means we don't have a Tylenol lawsuit, we have a doctor's lawsuit, and we all know how hard it is to sue a doctor. 

We suspect different kinds of lawsuits are going to start swinging from one pharmaceutical direction into another and I highly recommend that you stay out of the way and don't sign up for any class actions that you clearly won't win. Some suggest these are actually just collecting data and creating lists of the autistics that are willing to believe the nonsense and none of you want on that list. Watch the ads you click. 

With all the grace and tact in the world, Tylenol came out and stated, “The facts remain unchanged over a decade of rigorous research, endorsed by Leading medical professionals, confirm there is no credible evidence linking acetaminophen to autism.”

It would seem the Food and Drug Administration is the only one actively jumping on board to lie for the White House. What does the Food and Drug Administration really do? That's a rabbit hole all on its own for another day. 

Luckily, much like Tylenol, World Health officials are pushing back at the lack of science and the utter slaughtering of factual evidence. 

Tylenol went on to state, “We prioritize science as the core of how we provide care, and that will never change.”

All of us were really hoping they would have just said, “Nice try. Release the Epstein files.”

This bill was frowned upon by those in power at the US Hemp Roundtable, whom support synthetic and natural hemp derivatives.

We don't just blame Logan Paul, but a rise in the popularity of fake service animals has been noticed not only by handlers, but by trainers and people all across the nation. This is partially due to the ease of access to legislation and the ADA becoming more spoken about as knowledge spreads on the internet. Unfortunately, some are abusing the rights and laws other citizens that are disabled may have in effort to make their standard of living EQUAL to those who have an able body. 

Many people like to pretend that their dog is a service animal so they can bring their dog anywhere with them. However, if your dog is a pet dog, leave him where you keep your pets. Your dog might be very well behaved, but it will still act like an animal around another animal, like a service animal. Dogs are dogs, and a misbehaved dog is a distraction to a well-behaved dog. Yes, we are trained to try and avoid it but we shouldn't have to actively avoid going about our day so our medical equipment will work properly because you want to bring your dog into a store. We have to stop what we're doing to ensure our service animal is protected from whatever it is your animal that's not under your control is doing and we have to maintain that our animal will not react to it. This is difficult as you can tell, because if it wasn't, you wouldn't have to fake that your dog was a service dog and he would just behave as such. 

Fake service animals are becoming easier to spot because unfortunately people who break and abuse the law only listen to parts of it. Fake service animals make it difficult to train real service animals in a public setting as well. One service animal needs to learn how to behave around humans while the other animal is just being an animal. It makes it hard to even train an actual service animal in the first place, let alone handle one that is fully trained. Every dog has a bad day, but you can always tell. 

For example, a service animal should most likely not be in a purse, a stroller or a carrier. However, this can be utilized as a common training technique when socializing during training or for no contact alerts, though its more common to see a fully trained service dog on its own paws. 

A dog, service dog or not, should never be putting their feet or another region on a cart that is also used to shop for food. It's a sanitary issue which is why even Service Dog Handlers do not carry their trained Service Dogs around in a cart. If your dog cannot walk on its own, it cannot provide that well of a service to you.

A service dog does not need to have a vest stating it is a service dog in fact the vests are mostly for us, as the Handler, with high hopes that people know how to read around us. No matter how many do not pet patches we invest in though, no matter how many times we write do not distract, most people don't read the vest - they just see that there is one. Once a medical emergency happens, people then look at the best which is why some of us choose to have our Medical emergency listed on the dog instead. There is no right or wrong answer on how to vest your dog in fact your service animal does not need a vest at all, that is the law. Your dog does not need any markings that state that it is a service animal, but it does have to be on a leash or under strict vocal control so at any time it can be recalled and must listen to the recall. It is not an accessory, it is a disability apparatus.

We are aware anybody can buy a vest that says anything and we have an article coming out about how big companies are profiting off of Service Dog Handlers and the disabled while actively hurting them in the very near future. That vest does not buy you the ability to skip all the training and the actual necessity for the dog. There's a reason that when you go to show us your alleged registration card, Service Dog Handlers roll their eyes and then once again, can guarantee that you aren't a real handler. Unless it is a simple ADA access cards like this you should not have a card.

Generally, guinea pigs and rabbits can't be service animals. Large birds are not service animals. You do not have a service lizard. The only exception to the rule of a service dog in most states actually a small pony, and that's mostly in very southern states where you see small ponies walking around and is less common the more northern you travel however still miniature horses can be a service animal in all 50 states however it must be housebroken. The influx in saying something other than a service animal is a service animal is also not very helpful, especially in education. 

Service animals are specifically trained to assist a disabled party whether it be a medical alert or mobility or more.

Keyword: Trained 

In some states, such as Alaska, a service animal is defined as "any animal that is task trained to mitigate the handlers disability."  (4) This suggests cats, miniature horses and other forms of service animal can be used in those states as long as they are trained to perform a task that aids the Handler in their daily activities, assisting the disabled party to give them a better quality of life. Training is the key here and even with miniature horses and cats, the animal must be task trained and housebroken. The goal is to assist the Handler without causing any disturbance to those around you. Simple as that. 

Missing an alert due to being distracted could be devastating, medically, for the Handler. Dogs hold trauma as well, having incredible recall in memory. So if a service animal is attacked, it can become aggressive or anxious in public, which also will prevent it from doing its job. The one playful dog fight with you, could be a horrorific life-changing experience to a disabled party. 

Poorly trained dogs also leave a bad taste in the mouths of business owners that we then have to visit with our real service animal. They are automatically going to assume we will be as disruptive as you are and we are treated as such. 

Not to mention we're also constantly checking each other in a community that can go toxic very quickly if somebody is not doing the right thing with their service animal, they get caught on camera, and sent to the community. We are aware of this. 

Think about all the pressure that is.

Now ask yourself "why is it hard for people with service animals to leave their house" and why it's not just a free ride to bring their doggie along. 

They're being stared at by the owner of the establishment and possibly stopped at the door before they even entered. They're being watched by other people who are trying to distract and kiss at and pet the dog even though there are huge signs that say not to do so. Lately people have been trying to get attacked by dogs because the payout is supposedly large and in this economy that's frustrating, even though our dog won't attack, it's frustrating that people try. They're always concerned that there's somebody else monitoring them and the behavior their dog displays, so they can be ridiculed on the internet via what should be their own support system. It leaves you feeling anxious and like all eyes are constantly on you, which is a terrible feeling. Some with service animals don't even bring them into certain stores. So, they put themselves at risk of a medical emergency to avoid the hassle. 

Replacing a service dog is not cheap. There are barely any free places that will hand you one pre-trained. It takes years to properly train a service animal and good breeding to have a decent one. After breeding, classes, gear, training, upkeep and vet bills, you're looking at $10,000 per service animal out of the low amount of money that they can make as a disabled person in the first place. Oh, and, absolutely none of it is covered by medical insurance, which is why Service Dog Headquarters exists today and we intend on growing out our gear supply. 

$10,000. That's the price of a cheap car or a down payment on a house for those not paying attention. 

Granted, you may have rescued an animal and your dog may be very well behaved around the people that it's used to being around. However, if it attacks a service animal or a $10,000 piece of medical equipment, it's very hard to replace that medical equipment. It's more than likely that they will also put down your dog for attacking the service animal, which as you know it is hard to replace your non-trained dog because they're a member of your family. What to your dog might seem like just rough housing and playing around and will be forgotten, might prevent that service dog from working in that store or around other animals in the future because of the behavior of your “well trained” pet, and not many even think about that. 

In accordance with the law, a service animal is a piece of medical equipment. It would be looked at as if your dog attacked someone's wheelchair. Not very nice, right? 

Finally, stores such as Frys and certain motel/hotel chains in some states have been welcoming service dogs, but educating on Arizona's HB 2588 law (2) which allows individuals misrepresenting their animal as a service dog to be fined up to $250 per violation, and to be removed from any store that allows service animals and not pets.

While this law was enacted in 2018 and is not yet enacted nationwide, we feel it should be. Being disabled isn't a free ride and we really don't get any benefit from being sick which is why most of us still try to work. If you are able bodied and have every ability to access the world, leave your dog at home. You don't need him there.

The truth is, your dog doesn't belong in a store. It's unfortunate if you're upset that somebody else has their dog in a store but they also have to suffer from medical alerts and emergencies, seizures, Medical testing, cardiac alerts, blood pressure problems, fainting, some of us can't see properly, some some of us can't hear properly… and as jealous as we are that you're perfectly able-bodied and you don't have to worry about having a seizure, or fainting, whatever it may be - we can't take that benefit for ourselves just because we want it. So please, don't do it with your pets and our rights to our medical equipment. 

A great display of this law at work was released in an informative reel made by Demon.Dog.Duo on Facebook, a service dog team that posts reels on topical education and living as a handler almost daily to their social medias and Youtube. The team remains calm while demonstrating the difference in their video of a pet being removed from a Fry’s location that had the law posted. Their service animal behaved exactly as they should have, but this could have been a dangerous situation for the both of them due to an out of control pet.

Drew even gave us a little shout out when he received our Christmas Present for Stella 5 years ago. We were so excited! (SEE HERE) 

We were so happy Drew gave us a second, even to tell a little joke at our expense. Even had a little fun stunt with Drew Lynch when a woman with the same name ended up in our group correspondence. It's been fun with Drew, and watching him and his healing process. 

While Stella the service dog is no longer with us, Drew Lynch's career continues to soar with multiple online avenues and social media, and him now on his 2025 comedy tour, it seemed like nothing could slow our friend Drew down. 

That is until his recent live show in Spokane, Washington. 

The show began like any other and went off without a hitch, until some action caught his eye in the front. 

“Is everything okay?” Drew asked the crowd, in normal fashion. 

“No,” the crowd replied then panic rose on his face as the words “uh oh,” mumbled out loud and you can see Drew panic and run backstage and call for a medic. 

Drew was at a loss, completely frozen when a voice cried out, “I'm calling 911 now!”  

A sea of voices cried out about calling 911 and that they had when suddenly a voice cried out, “CPR started!”

“I can be your second!” a second voice calls out. 

“No pulse?”

“No pulse.”

“I think I found a pulse!”

Drew looked completely out of his element and in shock. 

“Thanks guys! Some room please?” is all he could say as the paramedics arrive outside. 

“He's waking up!” 

A gentle voice could be heard comforting the man, “Sir? Can you hear me? I'm gonna take care of you okay?”

“Great job everyone!” the voice cheers as the audience gives themselves a standing ovation. 

You then see the man being taken out by paramedics as Drew is left to handle the emotional landing of the room. You could tell that it weighed heavily on him, what he had witnessed. 

Drew began to tear up and while telling a joke about how his job is now harder, it was clear that Drew had witnessed humanity at its very best in that one moment. He paused, visibly upset and in shock. 

“That was incredible, dude.” Drew leveled with the audience with tears in his eyes. “You just came together in a really cool way, dude. You saved that guy's life, man.”

The audience cheers. 

“I mean that was so crazy. You guys came together so fast, man. To just witness that. I mean can you give a hand to the people who helped save that guy's life?!”

Drew shared the video across multiple platforms including Facebook and YouTube.(1)

Drew was later quoted as saying, “while he was lying there, people in the room with no identity, no ego, nothing… other than just coming together to clear a path... Men, women, taking turns doing compressions for CPR, monitoring vitals, calling the paramedics, working on him for over 5 minutes.”

Drew was obviously emotional but finished, “I'm a comedian, but so what? I felt that as a human being I got to experience a group of people coming together to revive someone - to give back someone their life. It's just a crazy world, man, and it's been a hard week for a lot of people for a lot of reasons and the fact that I just got to witness a village, basically, of people just working together and understanding the stakes of the situation and being good natured… I said it last night and I'll say it again, it was a beautiful thing to witness.”

Drew continued, “It restored hope for whatever is going on in the crazy (of this) world. So, Spokane, I just want to say thank you to everybody. If there's anybody that I had not acknowledged last night, I'm really sorry about that. Everyone came together, and I tried to convey that as best as I could and just acknowledge what a gift it was that I got to witness.”

Drew updated his audience in a short on social media.

The man, known as Mr. Wende, is in stable condition and great spirits as he got a visit from Drew Lynch and his comedy team, Rachel and Akeem, whom checked in with the man and his family at the hospital the following day. Drew's team spent some time with Mr. Wende whose son, Nathan later took to social media to thank them and the audience who saved his father.

Nathan said some kind words but in closing stated, “I write this to say, in a world where we are so divided at times, these strangers to us at the time came together to give us the gift of more time with our dad/papa. He's doing better today. Lots of tests but hopefully on the road to recovery. I can't do anything for any of you but say… Thanks. We don't take this extra time (for) granted and you make me proud to live in Spokane.”

Mr. Wende is said to be on the road to full recovery but the event will live on in the hearts of the performers, the citizens that came in for rescue, and his family for years to come. This event will leave a mark for hope in the lives of everyone it affected.

They say it takes a village, no one ever gets the life changing experience of witnessing it. Thank you to everyone involved, as well as Mr. Wende and Drew Lynch for allowing us to share this experience of unity and hope with our readers at a time when they could use it most.

Nursing Homes and Rehabilitation centers across the Midwest have been informing visitors and patients of a new CRAB outbreak in the midwest. 

CRAB is an infection that is making it's way into nursing homes and medical pavillions and it's causing concern. Acinetobacter is a group of bacteria (germs) commonly found in the environment, like in soil and water. Infections caused by Acinetobacter rarely occur outside of healthcare settings.

Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) are bacteria resistant to nearly all antibiotics and difficult to remove from the environment. As a result, CRAB can cause deadly infections and large outbreaks among hospitalized patients and nursing home residents.

Acinetobacter baumannii can cause infections in the blood, urinary tract, lungs (pneumonia) or wounds. In some cases, people can carry the bacteria without being infected, known as colonization.(1)

In the United States, patients in healthcare settings are at highest risk, especially those who:

• Are on breathing machines (ventilators).
• Have devices such as catheters.
• Have open wounds from surgery.
• Are in intensive care units.
• Have prolonged hospital stays.

People who have weakened immune systems, chronic lung disease or diabetes may be more susceptible.

CRAB can spread via contact with contaminated surfaces or contaminated equipment, including person-to-person contact, often via contaminated hands. 

To prevent the spread of CRAB Healthcare workers are instructed to keep rooms on a daily cleaning schedule and remind patients and visitors to often wash their hands. Gloves can often help prevent the spread as well as often cleaning surfaces and areas of frequent hand traffic. (2)

If an outbreak is suspected the silence doesn't help protect anybody and should always be reported to the CDC for infectious tracking. The CDC is providing testing to identify antimicrobial resistance cases, measure resistance and track transmission in a healthcare setting through the Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory Network. (1)

Stay informed - and if you're visiting or working in a nursing home or healthcare facility that may be affected, do your best to keep your hands clean and off random surfaces so you don't bring it home with you. 

Educate others in noticing the symptoms such as;

• Fever.
• Red, swollen, warm, or painful skin areas or wounds.
• An area of orange, bumpy skin with blisters.
• Cough, chest pain, or trouble breathing.
• Burning feeling while you urinate.
• Sleepiness, headaches, or a stiff neck.(3)

If you may have been exposed to crab and are experiencing these symptoms, please see a healthcare professional immediately. The threat level for CRAB is above that of Candida Auris and should be reported immediately.
